Based on available information, our preliminary proposal for the 2022.1 Red List would be to adopt the proposed classifications outlined in the initial forum discussion.

Odontophorus speciosus doesn’t occur only in remote areas in Ecuador. Actually, some major roads are across its range, habitat change and loss is significant, and many areas are completely deforested and no recent records of the species have been reported. The species is hunted by local communities and farmers. Dogs (feral and domestic) attack them (dogs are becoming an important problem in many areas across the species’ distribution).
