  1. The species is common in the range with occupied larger range similar to Red-Fronted Macaw. Nest and roost ( build their nest and roosting site) in rock shelter , spined bromelid cliffs that is hard to reach due to poaching! The potential atribute as “invasive species, the population can grow and declined dependeng on the productivity of the year.

  2. Poisoning could be a threat to the species, as it is for other parrot species in its range. Red-fronted Macaws as well as Mitred Parakeets are killed at corn fields by placing poison within corn cobs as they are seen as pest species. We do not have information whether this is actually killing Cliff Parakeets but could be the case. During the 2021 Red-fronted Macaw breeding population census large Cliff Parakeet colonies were encountered throughout the Dry Andean Valleys in the Caine, Mizque, Pilcomayo and Grande river basins.
